What are Ghost Beads?

Picture
Ghost Beads are Juniper berries and have historically been utilized in Navajo medicine for their potential health benefits, including the treatment of conditions such as diabetes. These berries, which are the seeds of juniper trees, are also employed in the creation of traditional jewelry, notably ghost bead necklaces and bracelets. The juniper genus encompasses a variety of tree species, some of which are commonly referred to as "cedar," such as the "red cedar," a wood frequently used for making boxes and lining drawers. However, this terminology can be misleading because true cedar trees belong to a different botanical family. Consequently, products labeled as being made from cedar seeds or juniper seeds may actually originate from juniper or cedar juniper hybrids. For accuracy, it is preferable to refer to these seeds as juniper seeds or berries, rather than cedar seeds, to avoid confusion and ensure precise botanical identification.

We meticulously examine and prepare our ghost beads to ensure the highest quality. The process involves removing beads that are naturally cracked or damaged. Additionally, each bead is carefully filed and drilled to eliminate any potential break-offs, resulting in a more durable and uniform strand. Our attention to detail guarantees that you receive a product that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also long-lasting. This rigorous quality control process underscores our commitment to providing premium beads that meet your expectations for craftsmanship and durability.  Our ghost beads are prepared with precision to ensure consistency and excellence in every strand.
